Pysanky — decorated Easter eggs — are a spring ritual folk art made by Ukrainians all over the world since pre-Christian times. They are believed to have enormous power, bring good luck, health, and wealth to those who possess them, as well as protect against evil and disease.

Typically only made by women, mothers and grandmothers would pass on their unique designs and motifs to the next generation, using the simplest tools — an egg, a flame, beeswax, a kistka (stylus), and dyes.

Pysanky have been a beacon of Ukrainian culture for centuries, and have evolved into a globally recognized art form.
